Submission Guidelines

JewishMC.org is a community resource for the Orthodox Jewish community of Highland Park, Edison, and Middlesex County, NJ. We welcome submissions of events, shiurim, gemachs, community resources, lost & found items, job postings, and shiva notices.

We publish content that is relevant to and appropriate for the Orthodox Jewish community of Central New Jersey. We reserve the right to decline any submission that, in our judgment, does not meet that standard — including content that is offensive, discriminatory, spam, or unrelated to this community.

Submissions are reviewed before publication. Most are processed automatically; some are held for manual review. We do not guarantee publication of any submission. If you have a question about a submission, contact us at info@jewishmc.org.

Privacy

This policy covers the JewishMC.org website and the JewishMC app for iPhone. There are no accounts and no sign-in. We collect what you choose to send us, plus the little that is needed to run the site and keep the app's widgets up to date.

What you send us, and what is published

  • Submissions (events, shiurim, listings, corrections, shiva notices, job postings and other community content): your email address (required), your name (optional) and what you write. Your name and email stay private. We use them to review your submission and to contact you about it if needed, and never publish them.
  • Your phone number (optional on some app forms) also stays private and is used only to reach you about that submission.
  • Listing contact details you enter for a gemach, resource, restaurant, mikvah or similar listing (a contact name, phone, email or website) are part of the listing and are published once it is approved. A business directory request is reviewed by us and is not published as submitted.
  • Shiva notices are published with the details you send, including names, address, times and a family contact. We delete a shiva notice 30 days after the shiva ends.
  • Photos and PDFs. If you attach a flyer, photo or PDF, we store it with our file-storage provider. If your submission is approved, the file may be published with it. The app sends only the file you pick; it does not read the rest of your photo library.
  • Lost & Found. The contact information you enter is shown publicly with your post until it is marked resolved or archived. Your email is optional and stays private.
  • Sponsor a Day. We store your name, email and phone, the dedication, the “sponsored by” name, the dates you chose and whether payment was received. The dedication and the “sponsored by” name are shown publicly on the sponsored days, and the name may appear among our Community Sponsors. If you choose to sponsor anonymously, no name is shown. Your name, email and phone stay private.

Payments

Payments are made directly through PayPal, Venmo or Zelle®. We never receive or store card or bank details. For a PayPal payment we keep PayPal's order and transaction references and the amount, so we can match the payment to your request.

Automatic review and service providers

Submissions are read and screened automatically with an AI service (Anthropic) before they are published or held for a person to review. We rely on a few providers to run JewishMC: DigitalOcean (hosting and database), Cloudflare (file storage), Postmark and Resend (email), Apple (app notifications), Google Analytics (website only) and PayPal (payments). They handle data only to provide those services to us.

IP addresses

When you send a submission or a Sponsor a Day request, we store your IP address with it to help investigate spam and abuse, and automatically delete it after 90 days. The submission or request itself is not affected. Our servers also record IP addresses in routine access logs, which are deleted after about two weeks, and use them briefly to limit how often requests can be made. Lost & Found posts and the app's widget registration do not store an IP address.

The website and Google Analytics

The website uses Google Analytics to see how the site is used, such as which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are and what kind of device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and is run by Google. We do not use it for advertising. You can block it in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out browser add-on. Website pages that the app opens in its in-app browser are part of the website and use the same analytics.

The JewishMC app for iPhone

  • The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools, and it does not use your device's advertising identifier.
  • Widgets. To keep widgets current, the app registers a random installation ID that it creates, the push token Apple issues for this app on your device, and the app version. We use them only to send silent updates that refresh your widgets. They are not linked to your name or email. If you delete the app, Apple stops accepting that token and we no longer use it.
  • Stays on your device. Your favorites (My Shuls, My Shiurim), reminders and appearance settings are stored only on your iPhone and are never sent to us. Deleting the app removes them.
  • Calendar and contacts. When you add something to your calendar or save a shul as a contact, iOS shows its own form for you to review. The app does not read your calendar or your contacts.

What we don't do

We do not sell or rent your information, we do not run ads, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Deleting your information

Email info@jewishmc.orgto delete a submission, a listing contact, a Lost & Found post, a Sponsor a Day request, or anything else you have sent us, and we will remove it. Information stored only in the app is removed when you delete the app.

Terms of Use

JewishMC.org is provided as a free community resource. Minyan times and other schedule information are posted in good faith but may not always be accurate or up to date. Always verify times directly with your shul before relying on them.

This site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or any reliance placed on information published here.
